Check the status of Your Non-Lucrative Visa Application – Spanish Consulate Online

To check the status of your non-lucrative visa application on the Spanish consulate website, you will need your application reference found on the non-lucrative application receipt, ‘resguardo‘ that you should have been given when you handed in your application at the Consulate.

The reference number is the ‘Identificador‘ and for non-lucrative visa applications at the Spanish Consulates in the UK, it begins ESP160GB followed by combination of 16 numbers and letters.

You then need to go to the website: https://sutramiteconsular.maec.es/Home.aspx and choose SOLICITUD DE VISADO in the first option (‘Tipo de trámite‘ – Type of procedure).

Next, enter your year of birth (Año de nacimiento), enter the numbers shown, (Escriba los números) and click on ‘consultar trámite.

You will then see that your application is IN PROCESS, (EN TRAMITACIÓN).  The status will remain like this until a decision is made on your application.

Once a decision has been made, the status will be updated to RESOLVED, (RESUELTO), and you should hear from the Consulate soon hopefully advising you that your visa is ready.

Unfortunately the Consulate portal does not indicate whether your application has been favourably or not.  However if you have an NIE, you can check the Spanish immigration residency application portal and it will show if the ‘resolution’ is ‘FAVORABLE or NO-FAVORABLE‘
